Color Block Me

Anyone who knows anything about fashion knows that color blocking has become a must-do trend since the past fall season. According to Vogue, "loud and proud color combinations make for a dynamic, confident look." Here are four looks from Diane von Furstenberg's Spring collection. Whatever your preferred colors, mix and match and put them together for an amazing new outfit!

Bright Colors

What could be better to pair a bright dress with than a bright belt? This J. Crew Dolores dress in the bright dahlia ($135) color is amazing, and a dull colored belt would not do the brightness justice, right? Duh. So, pair it with a bright yellow belt (also from J. Crew, $36.50) for a great spring or summer outfit- perfect for a bright blue sky day outside.

Animal Accessories

Is your wardrobe feeling a little dull?? Just add some playful animal print from J. Crew!! Mix the (1) Calf Hair Belt to a simple solid colored dress (even a bold color will work!), switch out your zipper wallet clutch for this chic (2) Calf Hair Magic Wallet (which I must say is on my must-have list), and lastly, add a little wild side to your phone with this (3) Leopard Print iPhone Case that I happen to be using right now.

Chanel Beauty in Blue

My favorite looks from Chanel's Spring 2012 Couture collection. Although it's not usually my favorite color, I have decided to make an exception for Chanel and the beauty in blue.

Earrings: A Fashion Statement In 2012

Kendra Scott Chandelier Earrings
found at Nordstrom.com
Earrings are making a come back this year... in a big way. All of the designers have decided to bring the chandelier earring back with a bold and colorful way for 2012. Kendra Scott has created these very summery looks that can add the perfect touch to any outfit. It's time to put the studs away and add a few chandeliers to your collection (that is, the earrings, of course).

A Night With Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art

I had the privilege of attending a private event at the Dallas Museum of Art, which is currently showcasing beautiful collections by Jean Paul Gaultier. After tasting a few hor d'oeuvres and sipping on a beverage or two, I made my way in to the exhibit that has been buzzed about so much around this city. In the first room, visitors are greeted with, The Odyssey, which is filled with virgins, mermaids, and sailors and a talking (mannequin) Jean Paul Gaultier. My favorite piece of the entire exhibit stands in this room-- the sailor inspired gown. Gaultier turned a simple fabric and pattern into something amazing by adding a touch of feathers at the skirt. Apparently, Jean Paul Gaultier loves the idea of sailors so much, because "life on the sea can give you dreams." I love this idea and the amount of creativity and inspiration that comes with the thought. (So, JPG, if you would like to let me borrow that gown for my next formal event, I wouldn't mind at all).
After obsessing over the sailors, I continued my journey into the life of Jean Paul Gaultier as I wandered through the Boudoir, Skin Deep, Punk Cancan, Urban Jungle, and Metropolis. I become more and more fascinated and in love with the collections as I made my way through the whole exhibit. His work is amazing. The way he creates clothes to rid gender lines and the power he gives to femininity through his lingerie pieces are incredible. Walking through the exhibit one time wasn't nearly enough, so Jean Paul, we will be meeting again soon.

Tangerine Tango

Grove Court Blaine Satchel

As you say hello to 2012, make sure to introduce yourself to a new color of the year! Pantone has recently announced that the must-have shade of the year is "Tangerine Tango" - the perfect mix of red and orange. Last fall, everyone said orange was the new black. Now, it's time to say au revoir to orange and bonjour to Tangerine Tango. I am excited to say that I just added this pop of a color to my collection with the purchase of the kate spade Grove Court Blaine Satchel (shown in the image above). Now, I can spice up my outfits everyday with a fresh hue. So, whether you decide to find a reddish-orange purse of your own, or choose to go with a different accessory, make sure you heat up your wardrobe with a shade or two of Tangerine Tango.
